Part 1

Part 2

Starring : Ajay Devgan,Sonali Bendre Madhoo, Parmeet Sethi, Shakti Kapoor, Amrish Puri & Gulshan

Movie Review :

Diljale is as promised a film "based on the life of a terrorist". Basically, the film shows how people get involved with terrorism and one, Shyam, does to get out of the underworld. Basically, this movie runs on the excellent direction of Harry Baweja (who directed another excellent movie of Ajay Devgan, Dilwale) and the excellent acting by Ajay Devgan. There is nothing much to the story. The music is supported nicely by the direction.
Shyam (Ajay Devgan) is the son of a nationalist, Kesri. Radhika (Sonali Bendre), a young woman attending the same college as Shyam is impressed with Shyam's nationalism and starts to follow his trails. After a few silly adventures and two songs, they declare their love for each other. When Radhika's father (Shakti Kapoor) finds out about this love affair, Shyam and his father are arrested and taken to jail through the hands of a corrupt police officer (Gulshan Grover). Shyam and his father are accused as being terrorists and are tortured. His father is killed after a severe torture and Shyam escapes and joins a terrorist group.
Shyam is turned into the violent and terrorizing Shaaka, who is Daka's (the terrorist group's leader-- Amrish Puri) gang leader. Although Radhika hates him when she finds out that Shyam is a terrorist, Shyam stays true to his love. In the meanwhile, Shabnam (Madhoo) falls in love with Shyam. Radhika is then forced to marry a military officer (Parmeet Sethi). But when Radhika and a whole busload of people are kidnapped, she finds out the real truth about Shyam. Slowly, everybody is informed about the truth and after going through this process, Shyam is married to Radhika (or so we may presume), Dara becomes a nice forgiving man, Shabnam's heart is broken, and everybody else except the military officer and Shyam's mother is dead.
Although not impressive in looks, Ajay Devgan has given an outstanding performance. His scenes apart from violence are great also as in Dilwale, where he did a wonderful job as a mentally insane person. Parmeet Sethi does a great job for his second movie, but has a small role as was his in his previous movie, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. Sonali Bendre is dashingly beautiful and doesn't have any scanty clothed scenes like in her previous movies. Madhoo looks beautiful (although chubby) in the two songs that she doesn't have a veil on her face.
Anu Malik's music is better than his previous few movies, like Darrar. Javed Akthar's lyrics make the songs better than they sound. "Ho Nahin Sakta", "Mera Mulk Mera Desh", and "Jiske Aane Se" have outstanding lyrics and music. Cinematography is good. Sets are similar to movies like Roja and Zulm Ki Hukumat.
